The TAPI project will allow to diversify export routes of energy resources of Turkmenistan

The TAPI project is under active implementation, and to date, the construction phase of this project on the territory of Turkmenistan is almost completed, said the Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Azerbaijan Mekan Ishankuliev, answering a reporter's question Trend.

“Recently, a loan was granted for this project by Saudi Arabia, which is an indication that it concerned not only the participating countries (Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India) but other countries not only the region, but from around the world,” said Ishankuliev.

The Ambassador also noted that these investments illustrate the importance of the TAPI project and a greater likelihood of its successful implementation.

The construction of the Turkmen section of the TAPI gas pipeline with a length of 214 kilometers began in December of 2015. In the second half of February 2018 this is expected to start the gasket in Afghanistan. The consortium TAPI Pipeline Company Limited with the participation of the Asian development Bank (ADB) continues active negotiations with all interested parties.

Studied various options of participation in the project, such as participation in company share, project financing, funding through international development banks and export credit agencies from around the world.

As the leader of the TAPI Pipeline Company Limited, the State Concern "Turkmengas", which has a controlling stake, serves as the main financial partner and the project Manager. The consortium also includes the Afghan gas Corporation, Pakistani Inter State Gas Systems and Indian GAIL.

The total length of the pipeline with the capacity of 33 billion cubic meters of gas per year is 1814 kilometers, including 214 kilometers – on the territory of Turkmenistan, 774 km - on the territory of Afghanistan, 826 kilometres of Pakistan to the settlement of Fazilka on the border with India. The TAPI pipeline will export fuel to the world's largest Galkynysh gas field, Trend reported.
